Text Box: HERTFORD SWIMMING CLUB Minutes of Committee Meeting 19TH July 2010 Haileybury Present:- JO (Chair) PM, LR, TS, PF, SB, FR, JC, SL, JP Apologies: VB, MC, NC Matters Arising:- Haileybury. TS has spoken to Nicki at Haileybury & she has confirmed we can have what we want from 7-9 on a Monday evening. Haileybury closed for relining from 23rd Aug to 25th Sept so this would start from 26th Sept. We will try & book Hartham for 5/12/19 Sept. (Lee has subsequently done this) SB would like 4 lanes for Performance Squad from 7-8.30. Agreed. Fees will need to rise to cover extra time. SB can coach SB felt we could offer extra water time to our Whales. LR has asked squad members and most are in favour of an extra session but want it early (ie 7.00). Agreed we would offer Whales an extra session at Haileybury on Mondays from 7 to 7.45. Fees will need to increase a bit to cover costs. LR & TS will coach. We will look into applying for funding from Active East Herts Club Development Fund. J O to complete application form. At present we will not utilise 2 lanes from 7.45 to 8.30 but may be able to use in future, particularly if Simon Balle out of action. Dicken to book pool. LR to check situation at Simon Balle. (LR subsequently reported that the relining at Simon Balle is underway & should be available from 1st Sept) Steve mentioned that everyone who did their Child Protection Course 3 years ago now needs to renew it. Teaching Staff Lucky has hurt her leg and is out of action. Viv is going to Spain for 2 years. Jayne has left. Caroline may not be around in Sept. FR is keen to do her L1 Teacher. SL will email other teachers and see if anyone can cover sessions. PM to put note on website encouraging adults to come forward and train as teachers. LR will produce a timetable of who coaches what, where and when. PM to check weblinks to Stevenage/John Warner (SB left meeting) Team/Swimming Report None Club Champs First week was a mess but after Lee email SLM Steve responded and the second 2 weeks were much better. SLM thanked for their co operation. It was felt we now have a much better relationship with SLM. Water Polo Neil sent an email We had tournament at Biggleswade 2 weeks ago, bit of a poor result due to lack of players but good fun. Had a good result against Watford last week, only losing in the last seconds of the final quarter.Score 10.6 This weekend gone we took a 12man team to Clacton pier race. This is a 1200m open water race from beach to beach around the end of the pier. Our team results will be sent to me soon and I will pass them on. I think this could be one for the rest of the club to join in with, it was a great day out with some great performances form Jo Garratt, Kenny Mac, Jason Hart, George Peters, Tim Neal, James Hobden, Ian Comben, Jon Lowy, Nick Savage, Mark Wheal, Andrew Watson and myself. Please try to get some more people interested in the pier race, it’s a great day out. Treasurer’s Report Current & high interest accounts reasonably healthy. Some fees still outstanding. Need to chase up . TS will do so. Need to make ability to pay by BACs more obvious as many people find cheques outdated. TS produced a projection for the next year (assuming 5% fee rise in Jan) showing a modest surplus over the next year which is more healthy. JO will write to Pete & Jess to thank them for raffle prize. Club champs made a loss All agreed fees should rise 5% in January. We will review again in Jan 2012 Fund Raising Ideas please for next meeting. Swim 21 No report Safeguarding . Cups need to be returned after holiday – notice on noticeboards & web page.
