Arena League R1

Saturday 12th October 2019, Braintree

On Saturday 12th October 2019 this year’s first round of National Arena Swimming League (NASL) took place across all the Country. NASL, or Arena League, is the most advanced league Hertford SC support over the swimming season.

It always offers a significant opportunity for swimmers to assess their progress and the progress of their peers, and has the potential of bringing the team together including our university swimmers. For round 1, in fact, Neo Metz came home from university to support the club. Thank you Neo!

On the night we raced against Bushey, Epping Forest, Halstead, Harpenden and Rochford & District. Hertford SC swimmers achieved 34 PBs and three 1st, eight 2nd and eight 3rd places, finishing the gala in 5th position, only 3 points behind Rochford & District (4th).

I would extend a big thank you to those swimmers who, although not at 100% of their form due to illnesses, attended the gala and gave all they had, in some cases managing faster times than their PBs. Your team spirit and dedication are admirable. And well done to all swimmers who raced fiercely on the night.

Teddy went to Maxim Lutsenko for his incredible focus and consistency in training, which is translating in fast and steep progress. Maxim’s attitude to training and will to learn are commendable. Well done!

The second round of Arena League will take place on Saturday 9th November 2019 (date and time TBC) and we are looking forward to more good team racing!
