Major League R1

Saturday 8th February 2020, Furzefield Centre, Potters Bar

On Saturday 8th February, Hertford SC travelled to Potters Bar to compete in the first round of Hertfordshire Major League 2020.

On the night we raced against, Potter Bar, Watford. Hoddesdon, Tring and Berkhamsted.

The team enjoyed the night of racing and performed some great swims allowing Hertford to finish in 4th place …..

Quite a few swimmers raced whilst not in perfect form due to seasonal illnesses. To these swimmers I would like to extend a big thank you for supporting the team: among the others, Grace Stanbrook, Hannah Southall and Jack Blake gave it all they had.

Congratulations to Ciaran Whatmore (100 back), Joe Reynolds (100 breast) and the Girls 9-11 Medley Team (Olivia Gibbins, Georgie Marsden, Sadie Moore and Matilda Tramontano Wells) for winning their races!

A fantastic twelve 2nd places were achieved as well as eight 3rd places, showing that the team was greatly competitive. Unfortunately, bad luck and tiredness resulted in some disqualifications: these mishaps can happen at any age or level, but are in my view a great learning opportunity for the swimmers, a springboard to further refine technical areas of development.

Hertford Teddy went to Ciaran Whatmore for the Best Underwater which contributed to achieving a 2-sec PB in his 100 back race: well done Ciaran!

Next round of Major League will take place on Saturday 29th February 2020: please save the date, we will be sending out team invitations ASAP.

Best wishes

Manuela
