Presentation Day 2021

Thank you to everyone who attended out presentation event. It has been a very hard 18 months or so for everyone involved in the club; the swimmers trying to keep fit and motivated, the parents ferrying children to different locations, our Covid officers keeping everyone safe and the members of the committee keeping everyone informed and organised.

On top of this we had to find a new Head Coach, but we are very pleased that Ross joined us and are enthusiastic to see him taking the club forward over the coming years. We would like to thank our teachers and coaches for the great support they provide our swimmers. Also a special mention to Jane O’Brien who stepped forward to be our club. Jane is unable to continue in this role and we are now seeking for someone to fill this vacancy on an urgent basis.

After more than 80 years volunteering between them, both Rachel and Mike have decided to reluctantly reduce their commitment to the club. Mike will no longer be poolside, unless he is there for a swim and Rachel will no longer be teaching, but may still coach occasionally. All of us at Hertford would like to thank them for their dedication to the club, helping our youngsters to reach their full potential.

This leaves a big hole in the club which we are trying to fill and are looking for parents who would be willing to help out. Training is available.

Finally a big thank you to Rachel Fabri for all her hard work locating, retrieving and cleaning all the trophies.

Well done to everyone who competed at this year’s Club Champs; it was wonderful to see our swimmers competing again. Long may it continue.

Last note from Rachel Threlfall and Mike Atkinson -

Rachel Threlfall and Mike Atkinson thoroughly enjoyed our Presentation Event at Haileybury on Sept 12th at which they received retirement gifts for their total service between them of nearly 100 years coaching for Hertford SC. This is an amazing achievement and Hertford SC are fortunate to have benefitted from their volunteering over so many years. A big thanks from all of us to them both. After the event Mike said:
'It was great to see so many familiar faces. I was very touched to receive such generous gift from club members .I know I thanked those present but I would also  like to thank  the many others who contributed'.
and Rachel said:
I would like to thank you and your committee for some very generous gifts to celebrate my retirement.
I enjoyed being present at the celebration meeting on Sunday afternoon and the children once again receiving their medals.  So nearly back to the normal routines.'
