East Region 2017 Long Course Championships

Congratulations to our Regional swimmers, Joshua Trapp, Joshua Holland and Leonardo Malagoli

This year Hertford had three swimmers that qualified for these prestigious championships. The qualifying times each year get more and more difficult to achieve.

Joshua Trapp qualified for the 50 Butterfly at the Youth championships that were held at the end of April / beginning of May at Luton. This is the first time that Joshua achieved a QT and recorded a PB 30.58 and finished in 24thposition.

Leonardo Malagoli, again was a first time qualifier at the Junior meet held at UEA Sportspark, Norwich last weekend. Leonardo qualified in the 50 Breaststroke in the 11/12year old age group ranked 37th and recorded a huge PB in a time of 40.91 and finished in 20thposition overall winning his heat convincingly.

Also in the Junior event Joshua Holland qualified in five events in the 14 year old age group spread over three days. Joshua recorded PBs in all of his swims and qualified for three finals, medalling in 3rd place in the 50 Butterfly, 5th place in the 100 Butterfly and 8thplace in the 50 Breaststroke. The Breaststroke final took place 10 minutes after he had swum the 100 Butterfly final! Joshua broke the Junior Club Record in both his heat and final swims in the 50 and 100 Butterfly. In addition to these placings in finals Joshua also recorded PBs in the 50 Free and 100 Breaststroke events.

These swimmers need to be congratulated on their fantastic achievements and it was a pleasure to be pool side with Leonardo and Joshua at Norwich and I am sure Lee will feel the same about Joshua at Luton.
