Saturday, 6th July 2019, Hemel Hempstead
This year’s last round of Peanuts 2019 took place on Saturday 6th July. Hertford SC competed in the consolation gala held at Hemel Hempstead. Opponents on the night were Hatfield B, Hoddesdon, Tring, Harpenden and Cheshunt.
On the night the team was on great form and battled until the very last stroke to gain twelve 1st, nine 2nd and ten 3rd places. This feat saw us finish in second place in the evening by just two points.
Final gala points were: Hoddesdon 190, Hertford 188, Harpenden 177, Hatfield 169, Cheshunt 133, Tring 102. And at the end of the 3 rounds of competition we came 8th in Division 1, which keeps us strongly in the main division for 2020.
All swimmers showed once again a commendable determination and fantastic support, whilst having great fun, fully representing our motto #weareoneteam!
I would like to express a big thank you to all parents and officials who have committed to the 3 Saturdays of racing in the Peanuts League: and a special thank you to our TM Rachel and all that – in different capacities – have helped organising, and ensured a smooth and greatly enjoyable experience for our younger swimmers, encouraging, smiling, re-assuring and having fun themselves… thank you!!
Based on competitive grounds, Teddy could have gone to at least 4 swimmers on the night. The Hertfordshire Peanuts League is strongly oriented towards celebrating young swimmers’ enjoyment and participation: although many a swimmer deserve a big thank you for their commendable commitment to swimming and the club, on the night our mascot went to Filip Bak, as an acknowledgement for all he has brought to Hertford SC: Filip is just a great pleasure to coach and we are going to deeply miss his smile, kindness, team spirit and positive attitude. We wish Filip and his family the best of success in their new adventure, and look forward to hearing how he gets on in and outside of swimming. GOOD LUCK FILIP!
