Team Luton Fast & Furious Open Meet

Saturday 13th July 2019, Luton

On Saturday 13th July nineteen Hertford SC swimmers across the board competed in the Team Luton Fast & Furious Short Course Open Meet. This was our last Open Meet of the season 2018-2019 and it was a pleasure to see a good number of swimmers attending.

Joshua Trapp (17) was on really good form: he swam 4 races to achieve PBs in all of them, 3 County Qualification Times (QTs) and 1 County Consideration Time (CT). Being this a Level 3 meet, Joshua’s results also qualified him for the Swim England East Region 2019 Short Course Champs, which will be held in November, making it a big step forward for Joshua. He also managed to break his own 50m Freestyle Club Record swimming in a time of 24.80.

Three more boys and 4 girls achieved CTs in their races. Jack Blake (100 breast), Leonardo Malagoli (50 breast and 200 IM) and Henry Roberts (50 fly). For the girls, Matilda Tramontano-Wells (50 breast, 100 free, 50 free), Laura Malagoli (50 breast, 100 free, 50 fly), Ellie Sopala and Troy Metz (50 breast). Well done to all of them!

On the day spot prizes were given to the winners of randomly drawn heats: Benji Smith won by a big margin his 50 back heat, clocking a PB of 38.38 and claiming his £ 5.00 prize. Overall, our Hertford swimmers achieved four 1st, seven 2nd and five 3rd places across all ages, strokes and distances.

It was lovely to see a nice splash of yellow and blue on poolside. I had a great time with the swimmers who attended and was impressed by the many great improvements just days after club champs… the future is looking bright!
